FESTIVAL VERDI DAY & IFFV SPRING GALA
Wednesday 29th and thursday 30th maggio, at the premises of the Italian Cultural Institute in New York
After the event in Paris of last April, the Parma UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy Foundation is again collaborating with the Teatro Regio and this time in New York for a two-day regional promotion as part of the tour introducing the performances of the Festival Verdi calendar.
Start date is Wednesday 29 at the Italian Culture Institute of New York. After the presentation of the 2024 season of the Teatro Regio, at 7.30 PM there will be a tasting of the top products of the Parma Food Valley, which the Foundation has been promoting since 2017. The 6 leading supply chains of the area of Parma will be there, i.e. tomato (with Mutti and Rodolfi Mansueto brands), anchovies (Delicius, Rizzoli Emanuelli and Zarotti brands), pasta (Barilla), milk (Parmalat) and PDO products such as Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and Parma Ham.
On Thursday 30th, there will be the customary gala dinner of the International Friends of the Festival Verdi, in the splendid location of the Lincoln Center. From 7.30 PM the more than 180 invited guests (among them some important journalists of the New York press corps) will be enjoying the menu prepared by the chefs of Parma Quality Restaurants, featuring from the appetizer onward leading regional products offered by the Parmigiano Reggiano and Parma Ham Consortia.
As first course, Parmesan style raviolis with ricotta cheese and spinach, then Rosa di Parma beef fillet as main course; lastly dessert, with the great classic tiramisù.
During the gala evening there will be an important donation in favour of the Ducal Food Valley area. The prize will be a dinner for two American guests in one of the PQR circuit restaurants, with a guided tour of the city of Parma, a visit to a local dairy and to a ham factory.
